Materials:
Stamp Zia's Stamps - Peacock Head
- To assemble the card:
Black foam pads
Thread/fibre
Beads
Black, double-fold aperture card
Double-sided tape
- For the stamped image:
Plain thick cardstock
Peacock head stamp (Stamp Zia)
Black inkpad
Embossing powder (I used a judikins one bought in Germany called
"scarwarze diamanten")
Clear drying adhesive (I used art institute)
Glitters (I used art institute ones in green, black and purple)
Clear micro-beads
- For the background:
Color Wash Jewels
Salt
Watercolour card
Water
Technique:
1) Spray the watercolour card with colourwash jewels, then sprinkle
with salt. I tend to pin up a selection of cardstock and then
have a spritzing session using all my colours at once but the
piece
I used for my card is mainly tanzanite and emerald.
2) Once dry, dab the card randomly with water until you are happy
with the overall effect
3) Stamp the peacock head onto thick cardstock and emboss.
4) Apply the glue and glitter to the main parts of the design
and micro beads to the patches around the eye. I saved the black
glittering until after the micro beads as I wanted it to slightly
contaminate the micro beads to add more interest. Use the darker
colours first if you don't want this effect.
5) Cut out the image. Experienced crafters would probably do
this before starting the glittering process but I am terrible
at cutting things out and was using an old knife left behind
by a carpet-layer so I thought that the glitter would make the
paper slightly more able to withstand my amateurish attempts
and blunt blade.
6) Thread the beads on the fibre and knot in place
7) Experiment with the stamped image, colour-jewelled background
and beads to find an arrangement that pleases your eye. I wanted
the beads to dangle from the peacock's beak as though he had
treasure to bestow on a special person
8) Using double-sided tape, position the colour-jewelled card
inside the aperture card and stick firmly in place. My card was
double-fold so I was able to cover the back too.
9) Stick the thread in place at the back of the beak.
10) Using double-sided foam squares, position the stamped image
and stick firmly in place.
