"Butterflies" by Zana Clark
Materials:
Stamp- Stamp Zia's Butterfly
16 x16" white mat with 10" circular opening
Rainbow pigment pad
Clear embossing powder
11" square piece of art paper for backing mat opening
6" square piece of white cardstock
7" square piece of teal cardstock, 5- ¼"x 4"
strips of teal cardstock, scissors, dryline adhesive or glue
stick
Technique:
- With a pencil, mark 8" in on every 16"edge of your
mat. You should have 4 pencil marks, one in the middle of each
mat edge.
|
- Using a rainbow pigment pad and clear embossing powder stamp
and emboss four butterflies, facing "out", placing
them in between the circle cut edge and the outside mat edge.
Your 8" mark will determine the precise placement of each
butterfly.
|
- Using a rainbow pigment pad and clear embossing powder stamp
and emboss four more butterflies, facing "in", placing
them in between the already stamped butterflies, the circle cut
edge and the outside mat edge. You should have eight butterfly
images equally spaced around the circle mat opening.
|
- On 6" piece of white cardstock, using a rainbow pigment
pad and clear embossing powder stamp and emboss one butterfly.
Layer the image on 7"teal cardstock. This is your center
stamp image that will be glued to your art paper background.
|
- Glue 11" art paper to the back of the mat to cover the
circle opening. Glue layered butterfly in the center of your
art paper covered circle opening.
|
- Glue teal strips to the art paper background, sneaking each
end under the center butterfly and the edge of the circle cut
mat opening. This step creates a "cross" of thin "spokes".
|
- With remaining teal strip, cut and glue small rectangles
in "strategic" places on the mat surface.
